We are off to a great start!
- Be sure to keep your First Grade Survival Guide in a safe place at home. It contains important dates, information, and suggestions for helping your child throughout the school year.
- Last week in math we played Top It in the computer lab. Each student received a pass-word and directions for using the website at home on Friday, 9/21. Use it to log on to EMGames.com. Choose games in the "Early Childhood" or "Everyday Math Games 1-3." Keep in mind the games in 1-3 are ones for students up to third grade. Most of these games are unfamiliar to your student.
- Students are asked to bring an apple to class on Wednesday, September 26. If your last name begins with A-H, bring in a yellow apple. If your last name begins with I - P, bring in a green apple. If your last name begins with Q - Z, bring in a red apple. We will have fun celebrating Johnny Appleseed's birthday with stories, poems, sorting, and graphing.
-
We are scheduled to take our first field trip on Friday, October 5 to Brookdale Farms. Students need a signed permission slip and $6.00 for their admission. Admission includes picking a pumpkin from Farmer Baker's field. Please send both as soon as possible, by October 1 at the latest. Students will need to bring their lunches on the day of the trip. We will picnic while at the farm.
-
Field Trip Chaperones will be selected through a lottery. Look for the entry form on Monday, 9/24, and return it by Friday, 9/28. Chaperones will be notified on Friday, 9/28. Chaperones are asked to pay $6.00 for their admission.
- Be patient with your child if he/she is coming home from school exhausted. This is a big change from the kindergarten routine. It's normal. Continue to encourage your child and I'm sure things will become routine in the next few weeks. It is a good idea to establish a school-night bedtime to help with the fatigue.
- If you did not get a chance to sign up to volunteer in the classroom, please drop me a note to indicate when you are available.
- Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns. Send a note in your child's folder or call the office and leave a message.
- Thank you for all you do to help your child be successful in school.
